Unless you have ruled out labrum i would not exclude it. The outside of my hip wasn't an issue, but the groin/crotch
It was really painful at times if I hiked a few miles. I had the surgery in January, which was not difficult but made a big difference.

Does it radiate from your hip to your groin? If so it could be your hip labrum

My experience as well. No pain in the hip, but groin pain that got worse and worse.
