I know one individual who was disowned by his LDS family. This was about 20 years ago. He talks to his siblings now which is good. He told me how hard it was. I think about how dumb I was at 18. Not sure I would have survived on my own.

It’s not a knock on the church. I don’t think they’ve ever encouraged such a thing. I hope not. But there are a lot of members that see in very black and white. A few just refuse to accept they have a gay kid. Seems incredible to me how much anguish to just disown someone you’ve raised and loved for so many years.
