We probably took swimming too seriously too early because
by age ten we were already swimming twice daily and once on Saturday when we weren't at meets. My routine from 8 til 18 was 3.5 hours of workouts per day five days a week.
Competition consumed our lives and stopped my ski racing career where I may have been better suited.
