BYU has mostly been a "basketball" school. Winning the 1951 NIT was considered at the time more important than the NCAA. And in the 50's played a whose-who of national OOC teams, (beat USF with Russell)holding there own. Except for the 1966 NIT, the 60's were mostly down years. Early '70s were good with Cosic, and the late '70s thru most of the '80s were very good. Drop off in '90s somewhat, but good since then. Waay back in the '30s, four straight 20 win seasons with Consensus All-American Elwood Romney.
