thanks. but it looks like i can't upload individual photos to the icloud...

meaning i can't take photos, and then upload the ones i care about and delete them off my phone.

If you turn on iCloud Photo sync.. It will automatically manage local space for you.

You can.. if you go to www.icloud.com -> photos there is an upload button.

Also.. from the photos app on the phone, you can "Save to Files".. and from there select your icloud drive.
