It’s a little late to do to well fly fishing from shore. You can fish lakes with almost whatever gear you have but it does limit you. Think balanced leaches/minnows under an indicator or drop $12 on a sinking versileader and fish weighted streamers to get down.

I might agree that a small river is a better starting spot. The Provo can be a good place to learn but not at current flows.
