Why would schools decline to consolidate because some of the top 1000 HS recruits would be left out? I don't see why they care about that at all. Ohio State and Alabama will still get the best players. Changes absolutely nothing for them. The NFL has only 30 something teams. Do you see them saying "gosh, we are leaving lots of quality college players out by having only 32 teams, so maybe we should expand to 60?"
