This was my exact problem. Started looking around at new phones but luckily

took it in for one last Hail Mary at the Apple Store. They used their little tools and cleaned out the charging port and that was the only issue.

Never stick anything sharper than your elbow inside your charging port.

Sometimes the charging ports get dirty and need to be cleaned. An Apple store can help you with that.
