Since that process started, my goals have all essentially been, "Keep being the good employee I have always been." But of course that wouldn't fly with management for a goal, so I have to find new and creative ways to say that same thing each year.
As an engineer who likes to focus on adding value to my company, I think that whole process is stupid. But whatever--I guess as long as they give me a charge number to charge my time while coming up with creative ways to say "My goal is to be a good engineer this year", I shouldn't complain too much. Still, one of these years I'm going to submit the goal of "Waste as little of my time as possible writing pointless goals this year." Maybe I'll save that one for the year before I retire. 🙂
