I work for a French energy company, and last week we had a banquet with the corporate CEO, who is also French.
He was speaking about the history of the oil industry in France around WWI and WWII, and as he spoke about both wars he said something interesting - he stated that both wars weren’t won because of the French or the British or any of the other allies, but because of the US and that we should never forget this and that we should always be grateful for what the US did.
My co-worker then said to me, “wow, that’s very diplomatic of him, lol”.
I thought it was an interesting thing to point out and to emphasize when it really wasn’t the point if what he was speaking about.
