I found out yesterday I had a "BS job." This isn't sarcasm or self-deprecation.
Tech companies began a hiring spree for programmers to make it look like they're growing in the books. When Elon took over Twitter, he fired 80 percent of the staff, and the company is humming along fine, and now many tech companies are firing unnecessary programmers. Snapchat, for example, had about 400 people working on their user interface, when their app has only 30-40 buttons. I looked at my own job, and realized I was in charge of code for about three survey questions, and I only have work when issues arise. In contrast with those working in tech, I'm unlikely to get laid off because I'm government.
