Aliens and Alien are hard to compare, but I think there's a rational argument for Aliens.
I'd make that Blad Runner argument (that 2049 is better), but that may be recency bias.
Puss in Boots 2 is a good example — I think the Shrek movies are garbage and that PiB 2 blows them out of the water.
