Raymond Carver had a poem called Late Fragment, he put it on his headstone. I think of it when guys like your Dad pass.
It reads as a partially overheard conversation between a dying man and God:
And did you get what
you wanted from this life, even so?
I did.
And what did you want?
To call myself beloved, to feel myself
beloved on the earth.
Your Dad was definitely loved on CB, and I'm sure in real life, too. I'm sorry for the loss, we all feel it when a good man passes away.
Do I remember correctly that he lived in Vernon Hills, IL for a while? We have a place in Lake Forest.
