program. Don't take it out on the women. Just look at Utah's basketball venue. It's not filling its seats. Yet, Iowa set up a basketball court in their football stadium and filled 55,000 seats playing a woman's game. Their BB venue is sold out every game.
In many schools, athletics is subsidized by football tickets and outside resources. BYU is lucky in the sense, it fills the VB and soccer seats, but this doesn't make up coaches' salaries.
If MBB has a good season, not great, but good, it will fill its seats, but those seats don't make up all the salaries either. If you check you'll see at other schools that the head coach is paid through an endowed position. I'm not aware of any coaching position at BYU which is similar. Are you?
