My understanding is that if your student body is 50/50 male & female, there should be an equal number of scholarships.

But when football gets 85 scholarships and there isn't a female equivalent, it throws all of the Olympic sports out of wack. So you get things like twice the number of girls track or cross-country scholarships then boys track or cross-country scholarships in the name of equality.

And schools aren't able to use things like drill or cheerleading to balance things out.

So in the end football supports all the female olympic sports financially and kills all the men's olympic sports.
