The Riyria Revelations by Michael J. Sullivan. There are 3 books in the series,
Theft of Swords, Rise Of Empire, and Heir Of Novron. It is a fantasy series that is extremely entertaining. While most fantasy authors thrive on world building or magic, I love this series because of character/relationship development. He's written many other related books, but this is a complete stand alone series.
