Finally...someone posts some sense.
It's not that I think BYU is going undefeated the rest of the season or I don't see the flaws, I just hard time understanding any BYU fan that thinks we're looking at 6-6 this year. BYU fans (and CB in particular) are not used to having teams with stout defense and I think we undervalue that side of the ball so a team that is winning the TO margin or scoring points on defense is viewed as just getting lucky breaks rather than earning it. If you look closely at the teams Alabama and Georgia have put together over the last 10-15 years, you'd conclude that defense wins championships. I have more confidence in this BYU team to win games in the B12 that I would have in other teams that had high power offenses.

Texas, Oklahoma, and TCU are all going to be tough games and the betting lines will have us losing all three of them, but we could also win 1 or 2 of them (my best guess is that we win one). The rest of our schedule is beatable based on what we've all seen through 5 games so 9-3 is certainly a possibility, albeit not the most likely outcome in my view. If we were to beat TCU then we would be favored against most of those other 4 teams, but I think we will probably lose at least one of those other 4 games because college football is unpredictable. For example, WVU is no jauggernaut this year, but they're also not bad and Morgantown is a really tough road trip, particularly from Provo. So I see our team getting one upset against the T3 in the conference, losing a game we should be favored in, and ending up at 8-4 (that said, neither 7-5 or 9-3 would surprise me based on the nature of college football).

I'd only really be surprised if BYU went 6-6 or 10-2. I can say that I would really really enjoy a 10 win season this year because I do not want either Texas or Oklahoma winning the conference in their last season before heading to the SEC. B12 fans not named Texas loved the beat down Taysom put on Texas both years and so beating either TX or OU on their way to the SEC would leave a lasting impression where BYU would be perceived as an upper-level B12 team, which I think is going to matter both externally and internally. Again, it's basically a dream season and not what I expect, but it would be fun.
