They're at a disadvantage traveling to the Midwest, so they might lose a few more games. However, the Midwest schools have to do the same traveling to California, so UCLA might win a few more games.

Is it clear how much this affects the total number of wins?

Agreed, there was a ramp up needed. But Utah also stayed regional and didn’t add 30k of travel to their season.

If they can win 3 away games the have a shot at a bowl game. 5 straight away and 5 straight home. I actually like it.
