Even in the initial write-up, I mentioned that it's likely we'll see BYU, Cincy, Houston, UCF scores increase based on the improved competition.
I've tried a couple different ways to control for opponent. The quickest, easiest one is to only consider P5 opponents... But that has several downsides because Ohio St and Kansas are both P5, but have very different impact on viewership.
Also it leaves G5 schools with miniscule sample size prone to outliers.
One thing I'm considering doing to tweak it would be to only calculate their viewership score based on games where each team is the stronger opponent. I've done that in small amounts by hand, but setting it all up in excel will be annoying. I think it might be a good solution, just haven't made that modification yet. Have some thoughts on how to do it though, so maybe this question will spur me to do so
