Switzerland/Northern Italy Family Vacation Recommendations

We're taking our four kids (preschool to 4th grade) to Europe this summer for 12 days. Flying in and out of Milan. Would love input on places to visit/things to do with a younger kids in that area. Anyone take younger kids to those areas? What places or activities would you recommend or not recommend?
