more culturally driven than anything else. I like soccer, but I like basketball and football more. It has nothing to do with money or infrastructure, and more to do with how I grew up with my family and friends. I grew up in the US. Had I grown up in a different culture it would probably be different.
My dad took to me BYU football and basketball games as a kid. I went to Jazz games with my friends and family too. Those are probably my favorite memories as a kid going to those games. Had he taken me to FC Barcelona, or even some B league team I would probably love soccer the most and be a rabid fan. Had he taken me to High school football games in Texas, or even University of Utah games I would probably be die hard about those. Culture also explains why high school football is a way bigger deal in Texas than in other states. California and other states could afford to build 30,000 seat stadiums for their high schools if they really wanted to or there was demand for it. It’s not about being rich or poor in this case.
