That's true. But Tropicana is closer to the Disneyland than Disneyland Hotel or
the Paradise Pier Hotel.
And from the entrance to Disneyland to some rooms at the Grand are just as far as Best Western or Tropicana.
The Grand Californian is a step above, and a LOT more expensive. And the distance from DCA to the room is the closest by far. But Disneyland, not so much.

The crowds are what makes Disneyland awful. I might go back if they found a price point that kept the crowds down

Demand for Disneyland tickets is very inelastic. Raise prices 10% and it only decreases demand by a couple % points.

Staying at the Grand Californian is amazing. You can hop back to the hotel for a nap/swim/etc right from the park.
