Walsh gets a bad rap. He was really good
But having to fill the shoes of Detmer created a lot of unrealistic expectations from fans. He was about as mobile as a glacier and He didn’t beat Utah. Those were the knocks against him. But it didn’t help that the defense was atrocious while he was QB. He threw for over 600 yards in a game and they still lost.
But he had a cannon for an arm and put up really good stats. Every BYU fan would love to have his kind of passing stats today.
