So the conference tournament didn’t bring their rating down playing a bad team
Even beating a bad team can sometimes cause you to drop a spot. A bye straight to the semi-finals will typically not give you a game that will drop your net rating.

It's the new normal... for the WCC.

No. My understanding is this was done to appease the Zags

So they weren't exhausted for the NCAA tournament?

i'm ok with it. you only have 3-4 teams with even an outside chance of winning

Change I would consider that Zags should support is only inviting top 8 teams

Not a big deal to give San Diego and Portland a game

How does it make it near impossible for the high seeds to win it all?

Ah, I guess you mean high seed as higher/greater numerical value rather than higher ranked.

It's because the bottom 7 teams in the WCC are really bad. Bad NET.

My confusion is high seed=poor season, low seed-=high performance

It's done to protect NET rankings of the top 3 of the conference. Makes sense.

Let's be honest. The WCC is 1 great team, 2 good teams, and a bunch of dregs.

Agree. That's the biggest issue that challenges the WCC national credibility.

It's to stack the deck so the best team wins the auto-bid

The best team already gets in every year. This helps St. Mary's and BYU.

Not really normal, but not exactly unique to the WCC. The old Big East
