Field goals were a strength early and have been a problem lately
That does not hurt PER ratings, however. PER measures performance of the quarterback especially relative to passing efficiency.
Romney and Hall have been better at getting touchdowns, thus our faltering kicking game has not contributed to losing since USF. It was definitely a factor vs Toledo and USF.
Oldroyd outkicked the coverage on a punt earlier and had to tackle the returner. He has been shaky on kicks and punts since then. Might be a coincidence. Maybe it is due to trying to punt and kick field goals. Southam is a good kicker. Maybe Oldroyd needs to focus on punting. SDSU is the type of opponent where a field goal could be the difference maker.
