I wouldn't. Both are opioids. She can take Percocet and Ibuprofen at the same
time. Just follow the directions on both bottles.

Whispers

What? No. Don't take both of them at the same time. You can tell us yours and your sister's weight if you want to tho

Why would they send her home with both?
Whispers
8/5/19 9:54pm
Take one or the other, not both.

I don't know.

Better yet call the doctor on call for clarification.

Seems risky to follow anything you are told from randos on CB.

Take ibuprofen plus percocet, if percocet alone is not working.

She is on a blood thinner as well so can not take Ibuprofen.

Can’t believe doctors are still prescribing this much opiate
claw
8/5/19 9:57pm
How much? He didn't say how many pills she was prescribed...
Slim
8/5/19 9:58pm
“This much”—you don’t even know the dose or how many were written
IGlowInTheDark
8/5/19 9:58pm
The doctor was probably doing Percocet and adding in dilaudid just for
credible HULK
8/5/19 9:57pm
If that was the case. She still can't take both at the same time, correct?
Whispers
8/5/19 10:03pm
Just stick with one until you can reach the doctor.
IGlowInTheDark
8/5/19 10:04pm
She can. I wouldn’t want to though. Dilaudid is heavy stuff. What are the
credible HULK
8/5/19 10:04pm
Dilaudid isn’t “heavy stuff”. All that’s gonna do is confuse him.
IGlowInTheDark
8/5/19 10:06pm
It is heavy in that a smaller amount of dilaudid gives you a big kick.
credible HULK

Potency is the word you're looking for.
IGlowInTheDark
8/5/19 10:20pm
Fair enough. I apologize for using the wrong word.
credible HULK

I don't need an apology, just don't give irresponsible advice.

Both are immediate release opiates that are used for breakthrough pain

Good call. You’re probably right.
credible HULK

Doctor has to keep the patient happy, can’t have bad reviews on pain management.
kotacoug

Dilaudid has ER version
MatthiasG
8/6/19 5:50pm
Dilaudid is the brand name for immediate release hydromorphone
mobius
8/6/19 7:44pm
Yep. He didn’t specify much & often referred to by brand name despite generic
MatthiasG

Pick one and only take that one.
IGlowInTheDark

Make sure it is not diclofenac
Agnostic-alumni
8/5/19 9:58pm
Percocet and dilaudid is a very dangerous combination. Diclofenac and Percocet
Agnostic-alumni

toggle them throughout the day
BlueFrog

Every single answer is to not take both - it’s common sense advice

How long have you two been physicians
Agnostic-alumni

11 years but given my work schedule I claim 20
cougfanz
8/5/19 10:25pm
I have 20 years. You honestly think it's safe to solicit advice here?
Agnostic-alumni
8/5/19 10:26pm
Sure. Seems safer than taking Percocet and dilaudid prescribed by some PA
