Meaning that if you took Utah's team, how many would start for USC? I know that USC only gave legitimate offers to a handful of Utah players, (Leki Fotu, Maxs Tupai, and Jaylon Johnson, I believe). Sure, they would probably trade more than that now after they've developed and been coached up, but even still, USC clearly has superior talent. Yet Utah spanked them. Coaching is a huge factor. Perhaps the second most talented roster in terms of highly ranked recruits (other than Alabama) is Florida St, and they probably won't even go to a bowl game because of poor coaching.
I guess what I'm saying is that the perceived gap in talent can be overcome if BYU "wants it more," and is better coached. Under Bronco, BYU was rarely the team that "wanted it more," but Kalani seems to view things differently so we shall see.
