BYU didn’t cross the 50 after the 1st quarter?
How did that last TD occur? It may have been part of a punt recovery but BYU did cross the 50 in the final few minutes to prevent a shutout.
The game was lost in acouple areas, coaching, depth, ball control, and energy. Tanner played a good game and only had 3 incomplete passes. He played the scheme that the coaches set up for him and did well despite a horrible amount of holding penalties and a non existent running game. As much as I love Katoa, his ball control was a major factor and that last fumble in the 2nd was a real game killer. I place it on the coaches for even running that play after his previous fumbles. Either kneel it or go for side line passes to move the ball.
On D, there was little pressure on Browning except when they would let Kafusi go. Takitaki was not nearly as aggressive after his penalty and there was little blitz from anyone. Losing Dayan abd Anderson was a much bigger factor than most are letting on because the depth is just not there. That energy from the previous games was missing and even the commentators talked about it. It was way too conservative and Browning had the etire middle of the field open.
This is just one game against a better team, that BYU has to let go. A healthy BYU would never have given up 35 points but they were simply outcoached. Learn and move on. They will not face a team as good as Washington again, this season.
