First, took a chance and lost? Sorry, is this "experiment" over? Sitake won 9 games the first year and then there was a losing season. We haven't "lost." It's not over. Sitake could be gone in a year or he could last 10 years.
So far all signs... What are you talking about? ALL of the signs huh? What are they? I doubt you thought that comment through with an answer.
Do you have any evidence that most fans were screaming for Bronco to go? And btw, we didn't replace Bronco. He left because he realized he's better at building programs up than taking them somewhere big. He had a ceiling.
And last, this fan base is spoiled rotten with mediocre "success." The success from both coaches was mostly in empty numbers. People drooling over "20-win" seasons in basketball like they mean something special. People have settled so much into empty success that they don't want to take a chance on possibly raising the bar, even if there's a losing season in there somewhere. But when we keep coaches for more than a decade we pretty much know what we're going to get. Nothing wrong with wanting to take a chance.
BYU is the type of program that can recover. If something doesn't work out, ok. They have the resources to find someone who can win again. There's nothing to be afraid of. Too many fans are always terrified and have convinced themselves that "there's no replacement."
It doesn't mean you have to force guys out. But kind of hoping they'll leave on their own? Eh, it's harmless.
