Interesting take - which companies are we talking about?
I was a Portuguese major at BYU and I had consulting and investment banking offers at major firms upon graduation. We hire kids out of BYU but we also take a good number of interns and some of our interns we've helped place at Bain, Lazard, JP Morgan, Wells Fargo investment banking, and others.

I graduated in 1999 and the list of companies that came on campus was pretty solid I thought. I was there recruiting the other night and Kim Smith told me there has been a big uptick this year in the number of companies recruiting on campus. He worried our info session would be poorly attended given all the competition for talent. We still had 70 students there - likely due to the free pizza.

I feel like I saw fewer cool companies recruiting BYU MBAs than the undergrads but I thought the opportunities as an undergrad were pretty significant. That was 1999 - but I was a Portuguese major and still had a lot of options. Not sure what went wrong from there.
