There is a guy in my area that's been a referee for several year. Refs youth leagues up through high school. I've never liked the guys demeanor, his smugness and attitude even watching games I don't care about. His calls and non calls affect the outcomes of games more then any ref I've ever seen. If you even look at him wrong he'll take it out on your team. He just rubs me the wrong way probably more so then most other coaches, just a personality conflict I think. He's officiated my 7th grade sons team four times this year and It's safe to say he doesn't like me and I don't like him. My kids don't like him and the parents don't either. Eventually every game I just can't help myself and start chirping at him even though I know he will take it out on my team. Last night was the first time we couldn't overcome that ref and a good opponent. I promised my team after he would never ref another one of our games. Later, one of the parents, a twenty year veteran coach of a local high school told me that if I cause any waves and don't let it go this particular ref would target my son and his team for the rest of his career. It all pisses me off so bad. What should I do? I've considered requesting he not officiate my team and not putting my team on the court if he shows up. Is that really an option? I've considered removing myself from the games he does and letting my assistant coach handle it. I've considered trying to better control my tongue on the bench but this guy deserves every word gets and more from coaches, players and parents/fans. Every time he officiates our game my assistant coach and I say we're not going to say or do anything to get under his skin and I just can't do it. What should I do wise CB? Thanks
