I'm not saying what we pay for insurance is out of control (which it is) but what insurance pays for is out of control.

We've gotten to a point where insurance actually drives up the cost of medical care. While medical insurance was invented to help share the burden of medical costs, it has now evolved to a point where it floods the market with money, driving up costs. There are other reasons medical costs are skyrocketing, but medical providers these days don't have to compete on cost and insurance will provide them with a steady cash flow.

That's why we see $2 for an ibuprofen pill, because insurance pays for it.

Medical care should be an expensive service, but not as expensive as it has grown.
