Is taking their cues from the vocal BYU side and the CB echo chamber. Like the OP, they don't address the coach's concerns, they just attempt to add their own motive.
That's OK and fair game to speculate, but you also have to articulate the other side's position and understand where they're coming if you plan to actually influence.

The apology was great. I kinda like Emerys passion. But it really accentuates what could be the core problem. It's an off the field distraction. Again.
Instead of talking about the game or the Utah win, once again, the narrative dominating the local media is all about emotions surrounding the rivalry; it's Marshall Henderson, Max Hall, the fumble, suspenders boy, all over again.
It becomes a distraction that perpetuates itself. Players might feel more justified adding to the emotion and intensity.
