while discussing realignment yesterday. She wagered my dream vehicle (a brand new Mercedes G-Wagon) that BYU football will be playing in a P5 conference within three years.
Interestingly, when I asked her what conference she thought we were going to be invited to, she said the PAC-X.
Naturally, I was a little surprised by this. I grilled her a little, but, all she would say is this wasn't an uncommon opinion within the department.
Take this for what it's worth.
Personally, I think that Texas and/or Oklahoma (+1 if they don't both go) bolts for the SEC. This will either cause the BIG, the ACC, and the PAC to rush to get to 16 teams (in which case I think BYU gets an invite to the PAC), or, the remnants of the BIG12 add BYU, Boise State, Cincy, and maybe a couple more (depending on how complete the exodus from the BIG 12 is) to form a new BIG 12 conference.
Whether that new conference would retain P5 status is anybody's guess.
