Professionalization clarification
Pres. Worthen noted a lawsuit had just been filed against 350 Universities (he assumed BYU was included) demanding minimum wage and going down an 'unfair labor practices' route. It seemed pretty fresh and he didn't have details on the filing. It seems to me that most kids would earn over minimum wage through their existing scholarship. I think it is that once there is a 'standard pay' base it will just constantly get ratcheted up and that is where the concern lies.
Also, based on his comments of personally knowing many athletes and having traveled to every away game since Independence started, he is invested in BYU sports and really does want them to succeed.
