Let's be clear here, the majority don't give a rat's behind what Washington's
football team's nickname is. The parties involved seem to be:
- The Redskins ownership and a large portion of their fans, who want to maintain the current name
- A portion of Native Americans who don't like the name and want to see it go away
- Other people (including some Redskins fans) who are uncomfortable with using a racial epithet so prominently and approvingly
- A large number of people who see this as an important battlefield in the war against political correctness and thus will expend energy defending the indefensible and endlessly asserting that the whole movement is being driven by a small, unaccountable cabal of liberal haters
- The aforementioned rest of the country who don't care one way or the other
