When I was a kid in the late 80 and early 90s the A's were probably the top dog in the Bay Area. The Giants were on a continual quest to leave the area and their fans looked like they got bussed in from San Quinton. But I will say one thing for the San Quinton types that hung out at Candlestick in the 80's, they were a devout bunch (what few there were)--rowdy too.

The new stadium changed everything. Giants games became a place to be seen, swill glasses of wine, and wear weird head gear.
