Bronco has replaced coaches on his staff, changed his defensive scheme a bunch
of times, and changed his offensive scheme a bunch of times.. I think from a "doing what we've been doing" standpoint in my opinion he's made a lot of changes. Pointing to the length of practice as THE reason we lost those games this year seems silly. If you want to look into his practices and judge what he's doing there, that might be more valid. But just saying "practice a half hour more each day and we're good" doesn't seem realistic to me.

I looked into it a little bit and there are some top name coaches that subscribe to the "less is more" mentality when it comes to practice. I've cut and pasted URL's below, but if you read what the players are saying about it, they like it. They feel less banged up. They're less mentally worn down. And Mike Gundy of Oklahoma State says it best here:

"We're nowhere near the 4-hour rule. We don't ever get near 4 hours, or 20 hours a week," Gundy said. "I mean, we have to fill out the paperwork but it's a non-factor."

"They only have so many plays in them, so if you're going to average 90 plays a game, then your practice plays have to go down because you can't practice all the time and then play 90 plays in a game," Gundy said.

With the amount of plays we're running in GFGH, if I were a coach I would seriously look at shortening practice. I don't blame Bronco at all for making that choice. Below are others that I found with a quick Google search, but I'm sure there are a lot more out there. I swear I read that Chip Kelly does it. I read that Art Briles of Baylor practices for 2.5 to 3 hours (instead of 4) but couldn't find the link. With the uptempo speed that teams are running, you have to practice that tempo in practice so you can get a lot more done than the old Nebraska triple-option teams, plus you'll wear your team out throughout the week practicing at that tempo for the full time (at least according to Gundy).
