If you try something and it doesn't yield immediate results, YOUR head is on the chopping block. You don't always have the luxury of time to perfect things.
The "football is 5th" gripe that people have is ridiculous. Would the product on the field change if Bronco came out and said that he's changed his priorities? That football is now more important than family or faith or school? Suddenly, BYU is top 10? Him saying that is going to make his players run harder and not make mental mistakes? That whole thing bugs me..
Players don't execute perfectly all the time. Most offensive plays, if executed correctly, would go for touchdowns. EVERY PLAY! They are designed that way. Everyone has an assignment and when you draw up a play you account of most everyone. And for those unaccounted for, the ball carrier should make them miss. Simple. Block everyone and your guy should score. Of course it doesn't happen that way, and every coach in America deals with it. Saban talked about his team executing after their loss to Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl. It's coachspeak and we need to understand that.
And I disagree that 06 Bronco is better or would have more success than current Bronco. I see what you're saying with that though. I loved his fire back then..
