Samsung has been openly looking to replace Android; they want to create their own OS that they would use on their phones. It is part of the reason, if you look at newer Samsung products, they are duplicating features of Android with their own apps -- for example, their own search, their own NFC app, etc.
As I see this more and more from Samsung, I'm much more likely to buy another manufacturers device that is equivalent; for example the HTC One or a Google Nexus phone.
