The iPhone is about to be lapped
I had 4 iphones, and I loved them. It seemed for the first few iterations they were waaaay out in front of everyone else with both their hardware and their software. Everybody else did their best to catch up.

it took a few years, but they caught up. I believe that in the last year or so the latest gen of android phones have dusted the iphone. That's not to say that the iphone is a bad phone - it's not. It's a wonderful phone. But...it hasn't changed much. The innovation and vision is gone.

I moved my wife to an iphone because it's perfect for her. It's simple, it's easy, and it just works. There's not a lot to it. She doesn't care about much besides the phone and texting. I moved to a Note 2, and I've never been happier. It's twice the phone my 4S was in both senses. Now when I have to use my wife's phone I feel like I'm playing with a toy. Besides the obvious size advantage, it's just so much...plainer? is that the term?

If it's true that the 5s that's coming out is just a minor boost and apple fans have to wait until next year to get an overhaul and redesign, there are going to be more and more people like me that realize the iphone is not the top dog anymore. I don't see myself ever going back.

....................................

Sidenote: if you're looking for a new phone, the correct answer is the Note 2, or wait for the Note 3. I never use my ipad anymore and what I thought would be a freakishly huge phone has turned out to be the perfect phone. Try it. I have 3 friends I have now convinced to switch, and they all say the same thing: best phone ever.
