Unless there's some service I don't know about (totally possible) the best deal seems to be Orange. €50 for 70GB for EU.
It includes 1000 texts (iMessages just use data anyway) and 120 minutes of calling to the US if needed along with unlimited calling within Europe.
Since this will be a 3 week trip. That's exponentially cheaper than $10/day through the carrier and 4 times the data that the T-Mobile international plan would give.

just add the travel plan to your service, I have ATT and anytime I am out of the country I pay $10 a day for unlimited
