The flight is more expensive for me too. Now calculate comparable lodging.
Flights to Utah for me are close to $600 and Switzerland is $900 for me so the difference is smaller. The hotels and lift tickets are where the gap gets REALLY wide in favor of european destinations. $400-500 per night in Utah to stay on the mountain vs $200-300 in Switzerland. It negates the flight cost for me at which point it comes down to lift ticket prices. Switzerland wins with options at $60 per day. Best deals at the resorts in Utah are a little over $100 per day if you can get them. If we just compare standard prices its $200+ per day.
