Watch the replay of the play in question. There was a definite strike to the helmet/facemask area, which is defined pretty clearly in the rules. As a group we would have been hysterical if this happened to one of our players and went uncalled.
The flag was thrown by an official that was right there where it happened. He probably had a view that was much better than anything we saw on the live play or the replay.
Last night's game was pretty well officiated. That espn didn't have camera angles of those plays that were more clear (or even available) is a legitimate gripe. To complain about the calls themselves is silly.
