You don't return food that spoiled in a normal period of time. If it spoiled
earlier than the use by date or if it was bad, yes, return it. But buying something and returning part of it because you didn't use it is totally abusing the return policy.

My wife's best friend is basically banned from Nordstrom for abusing their return policy. That's hard to do.

I always buy a New Years shirt at the end of the year then return it January 2nd. They’ll never know that I wore it.
