We almost had a basement flood too. Then the pipes unclogged.

Everything backed up in February and we had to have stuff ripped out. We may need to do something with our sewage poles.

I spent a week with our smoke detector beeping. Replaced every battery,

If the battery is bad/dead you should be able to disconnect it to stop the beeping until you get a replacement.
