1. Effort. Seems like effort is there at times and missing quite a bit at times. On the defensive end, one thing we can control is our effort and tenacity. Would love to form an identity as a super strong defensive team. On offense, seems like we have pretty good effort.
2. Physicality. Need to up our physicality. Our high post players in Fouss and Keita seem to get pushed off the ball when they catch the ball at the top of the arc. I saw a lot of guys waiting for the ball to come to them. Instead, go to the ball, anticipate contact and play through it. Duquesne pushed us around in the tourney last year. Seems like other teams are playing phsyical. I'd love our guys to be the aggressor.
3. Scheme. I'm probably not too qualified to comment on this as I'm not a bball coach and my playing career ended in high school, but it seems like our scheme is a lot of standing around and one-on-one ball. I am pretty sure that is how the NBA plays. Do college teams play this way? Last year's team ball was awesome. Move and react. Lots of assists. Play for each other. Last year we seemed to get into trouble when we played one-on-one ball and not team ball. KY's offense is different so maybe he wants a more one-on-one scheme because we have the horses to do it and likes those match ups??
4. Cohesion. This has been talked about a lot. Clearly need to improve familiarity with each other. Knowing how and where the players like to play, anticiapting how they will respond to defensive pressures, etc.
5. TOs. Way too high. Gotta stop forcing it. Cohesion will def help in this department.
