There's a difference between being a good coordinator and a good coach (organizational manager) and I always thought Rich Rod unfairly caught a bad rap for how things turned out at Michigan. He was still a great football mind, even if he was over his skis managing a top-5 program.

I haven't followed him too closely since then (and he may still be a poor manager) but he and Chip Kelly changed the game every bit as much as Mike Leach and Hal Mumme did. Happy to see him get another chance.
