Another option is to make a claim with the schools insurance. Often they want to give you something to assure you
will never come back at them later.
Again, just keeping the options open and these are things I have seen done.
I’d never want to take advantage of people but also it’s ok to look into it.

The closest experience I have with this is with my brother-in-law who developed fat emboli syndrome after fracturing
