But he should stay. He's an NFL talent, for sure, IMO, on the level of Collie,
and Puka, but the actual numbers do not favor BYU players leaving early, and it never has. You can go down the list of BYU players that left "early" the last 10 years, and very few of them are playing key roles with great contracts on NFL teams. Apart from a few notable standouts, most who leave early, (at the urging of ill-advised agents), and are taken in later rounds, (or not at all), just bounce around rosters, and make pittance NFL dollars over several years til the are cut. Sports Agents are like Real Estate agents or blood sucking lawyers - convince as many as you can to use their services (even if it's not in the individual's best interest), and play the odds of finding one like Puka, where you cash in, and offset minimal work spent on the other 20 who didn't.

While those who are taken in the top 1-2 rounds, who the team / mgmt is invested in to succeed (or they look stupid), get much bigger contracts, much more chances for playing time to prove themselves, and make FAR MORE MONEY in the long run over the years of their career.

There are just far more players who leave early and flame out with little money to show for it, than players who cash in big (Puka being an obvious exception). Jaren is a perfect example. Even though he looked amazing in pre-season, and has had some great performances, he was taken later in the draft, and the team is clearly not invested in him, trading for some has-been to move above him in the depth chart.

While staying does not guarantee being taken in rounds 1-2, or making a name for yourself, I think it's likely that guys like Tetairoa McMillan (UA), Xavier Restropo (Miami), Tre Harris (Ole Miss), and even an RB's like Ashton Jeanty (BSU) and Cam Skattebo are going to be collecting a lot more money over the next few years by coming out now than they would have had they declared last year. Not saying they wouldn't have still possibly been taken high, but for some, they definitely moved up the draft boards.

And that movement up the draft boards, can mean millions of dollars, for just a 12 month investment. It's certainly not going to mean less $, or very unlikely to mean less $.
